If

Life is a funny old thing, ups and downs along the way are to be expected.
Yesterday Mr F confirmed he is at risk of redundancy, we were expecting it.
I went to meet  Little Miss-ette from school, she walks a little of the way by herself.
She luckily avoided being run over, she walked into the road and a legendary woman driver stopped in time
We walked with a poor woman who screamed in shock,  I reassured both of them.
Once I got us home I cried in the kitchen.

I went to training, I'm having a period, I notice the broken wing mirror Mr F told me about and remembered I forgot to phone the fire company because our new fire has a broken ignition.

It's life

During training I pulled out my compact and reapplied my lipstick
warpaint
Let's deal with it
with sparkles

Phenomonal Woman - Maya Angelou (an exerpt)

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

If - Rudyard Kipling (an exerpt)

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

Of course, I slightly disagree with 'don't look too good' but I know what he means!

There are worse things that can happen

Luckily everyone is fine

We take a deep breath and keep walking. There are no guarantee's in life, it's why I live as I do.  For as long as I am here I want to have a bloody good time.  When crap happens, it has to be dealt with and when I walk past two women most days to pick up my daughter, who like to look me up and down and stop talking to each other, I take no notice.

'Or being hated, don’t give way to hating'
quite bloody right Rudyard!

I hope you are having a wonderful week, and I hope you don't mind my waffling on!
and thank you for all of your lovely comments on my last post
you are all

  5. Oh no, the dreaded redundant, which I'm guessing means the same as “we've decided to downsize” over here. That sucks. :(

Those biotches! I'm glad you ignore them. People like that make me crazy! Um, more crazy than I usually am, I mean. ;)

  9. My Hubby was told he'd probably be made redundant a few years back. It was scary, but after talking about it he decided it was a good thing. He'd get a good payout and the chance to make a fresh start in something else. He was actually looking forward to it. Then they changed their minds and he's still there. So anything or nothing may happen yet.
I think we have to have bad days every now and again ... just to make us appreciate the good ones more.
Glad everyone is ok ... that's the most important thing.

  10. Yeah, there sure is a lot to deal with at times, but deal with it we do, we walk on and apply just a little bit more lippy.
Ugh, I have seen my kids do the wandering into the road without looking thing, it's awful. Thankfully all was well and no harm done, apart from some shredded nerves...
Keep us posted about Mr F's job. No one's work is safe right now, is it? Simon works for the council and there are constantly plans t reorganise, reduce numbers, etc etc. I stick my fingers in my ears, sing lalalalala, and work on the assumption that it will be fine until someone tells me different. Losing sleep over it doesn't make it any less likely to happen.
Love the print on that second frock, it reminds me of citrus fruit cut in half. You see it, don't you?
Next time you see those two women, flash them your biggest smile and shout a cheery hello. Make them squirm. YOU are phenomenal; them, not so much... xxxxx

    1. The word 're-organise' and 'restructure' never really end well, it's the positive spin they try and use which annoys me, but where there are endings there are new beginnings, which maybe for the better! I think the dress looks like fruit in half!! I called it 'grapefruit dress'!! and I did smile, there was only one there yesterday, we smiled at each other and said hello, how cool! have an amazing weekend Curtise, and thank you x x x

  11. Oo, love the frock!
Crikey, I would have been shrieking if I saw a child walking into the road, either form a driver or pedestrian perspective. Terrifying! I'm sure she's had enough of a fright to keep her on the footpath.
Bugger about impending redundancy...we were in that boat last year, but it didn't happen, and G just escaped the cull the time before... ghastly.
Ah, I bet those two women are a pair of slags. Funny, it's just what I was talking about, isn't it?! Good quote. Feck them!
But not you, you're AWESOME! XXXXXXXXXXXX

    1. I'm glad you both escaped the redundancy, what a relief! it's a sucky time though, makes everyone nervous - how bizarre I wrote this post and came over to read yours, and you were talking about it too!! and Miss Helga, you are awesome!! have a blooming good weekend x x x

  12. What a bad week you've been having! I'm so sorry to hear about the Mr's work fate... fingers crossed it doesn't come to that. It's happening to too many good people. I'm really glad your daughter walked away unharmed. I can't believe you managed to keep a brave face to reassure her and a stranger until you got home; I think most parents would be hysterical. Big hugs! It's a miracle she had a lucky escape with the amount of bad drivers on our roads. I hope she's not too shaken up. As for the women who stop and stare at you everyday... they're just jealous that you look so glamorous and effortlessly stylish, and they don't! Bitches! Just smile and wave next time you go past; that should shut them up! I don't know many poems, but I LOVE If by Rudyard Kipling. It's beautiful and so inspirational. Life is definitely far too short to waste and should be lived to the fullest every day! You have such a great outlook on life! I really hope things start brightening up for you soon xx

'If' is a truly inspiring piece, I don't know a huge amount of poems but some just stay with us! have a restful weekend Louise, and thank you x x x

  20. Oh! What a bad few days you've had, I'm sorry to hear about it all, but at least you are all well. And at least you are able to use poetry to help make you feel better! Those women! Jealous!!

Speaking of poetry have you ever been to one of The Reader Organisation's Reading groups? They often happen in local libraries and can be a fab way to meet people and enjoy reading, either short stories or novels and usually a poem too, I've found so many fab poets and poems from the group I go to xx
