Life is a funny old thing, ups and downs along the way are to be expected.
Yesterday Mr F confirmed he is at risk of redundancy, we were expecting it.
I went to meet Little Miss-ette from school, she walks a little of the way by herself.
She luckily avoided being run over, she walked into the road and a legendary woman driver stopped in time
We walked with a poor woman who screamed in shock, I reassured both of them.
Once I got us home I cried in the kitchen.
I went to training, I'm having a period, I notice the broken wing mirror Mr F told me about and remembered I forgot to phone the fire company because our new fire has a broken ignition.
It's life
During training I pulled out my compact and reapplied my lipstick
warpaint
Let's deal with it
with sparkles
Phenomonal Woman - Maya Angelou (an exerpt)
I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
If - Rudyard Kipling (an exerpt)
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
Of course, I slightly disagree with 'don't look too good' but I know what he means!
There are worse things that can happen
Luckily everyone is fine
We take a deep breath and keep walking. There are no guarantee's in life, it's why I live as I do. For as long as I am here I want to have a bloody good time. When crap happens, it has to be dealt with and when I walk past two women most days to pick up my daughter, who like to look me up and down and stop talking to each other, I take no notice.
'Or being hated, don’t give way to hating'
quite bloody right Rudyard!
I hope you are having a wonderful week, and I hope you don't mind my waffling on!
and thank you for all of your lovely comments on my last post
you are all

Yep, forward marching all the way and thank you Vix! have a bostin' weekend! x x x
DeleteIt's a rich mix, Life. Sorry to hear you were shaken up, but it's also nice to see a different side to you. The poems and the sentiments are excellent - a perfect start to my day!
ReplyDeleteThanks Val! I'm all sorted now and back in the game, I'm glad you liked the poems, they are two of my favourites - have an amazing weekend x x x
DeleteOh no, the dreaded redundant, which I'm guessing means the same as “we've decided to downsize” over here. That sucks. :(
ReplyDeleteThose biotches! I'm glad you ignore them. People like that make me crazy! Um, more crazy than I usually am, I mean. ;)
Ahhh, I think you are awesome! and life goes on, as long as my lot are healthy then I'm a happy woman! have a brilliant weekend! x x x
DeleteSending you hugs. Keep going with the lippy and the sparkles . . .
ReplyDeleteHugs received and I send some to you! 'cos they are great! and thank you, have a fabulous weekend x x x
DeleteOh Sandra , I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and your hubby ,that he doesn't get redundancy
ReplyDeleteYou are such a wonderful lady I know that you will handle with what life throws at you, keep up with the lippy and my thoughts are with you ! with love and hugs xxx. .
Thanks for your kind words Lesley, he's a hard worker so I know he'll do his best, and lippy really is a wonderful thing! have an amazing weekend x x x
DeleteMy dear Sandra, I am so glad that everyone is fine. That is the most important. I am always looking forward to your sweet, witty posts about your life - beautiful and genuine. You have a wonderful family, beautiful daughters and a husband who adores you - you are so rich! And you have a big and very kind heart where there is always a place for kindness to others. You are truly a phenomenal woman! With love, Natalia
ReplyDeleteOh Natalia, what sweet words! thank you, I feel all warm and fuzzy now, likewise I think you are phenomenal too! have a wonderful weekend with your dear family x x x
DeleteMy Hubby was told he'd probably be made redundant a few years back. It was scary, but after talking about it he decided it was a good thing. He'd get a good payout and the chance to make a fresh start in something else. He was actually looking forward to it. Then they changed their minds and he's still there. So anything or nothing may happen yet.
ReplyDeleteI think we have to have bad days every now and again ... just to make us appreciate the good ones more.
Glad everyone is ok ... that's the most important thing.
xx
You're right Jo, it really does make us appreciate the good times, but yeah, everyone is fine, which is the most important thing and Charlotte was ok, she was bloody lucky though! have a fabulous weekend x x x
DeleteYeah, there sure is a lot to deal with at times, but deal with it we do, we walk on and apply just a little bit more lippy.
ReplyDeleteUgh, I have seen my kids do the wandering into the road without looking thing, it's awful. Thankfully all was well and no harm done, apart from some shredded nerves...
Keep us posted about Mr F's job. No one's work is safe right now, is it? Simon works for the council and there are constantly plans t reorganise, reduce numbers, etc etc. I stick my fingers in my ears, sing lalalalala, and work on the assumption that it will be fine until someone tells me different. Losing sleep over it doesn't make it any less likely to happen.
Love the print on that second frock, it reminds me of citrus fruit cut in half. You see it, don't you?
Next time you see those two women, flash them your biggest smile and shout a cheery hello. Make them squirm. YOU are phenomenal; them, not so much... xxxxx
The word 're-organise' and 'restructure' never really end well, it's the positive spin they try and use which annoys me, but where there are endings there are new beginnings, which maybe for the better! I think the dress looks like fruit in half!! I called it 'grapefruit dress'!! and I did smile, there was only one there yesterday, we smiled at each other and said hello, how cool! have an amazing weekend Curtise, and thank you x x x
DeleteOo, love the frock!
ReplyDeleteCrikey, I would have been shrieking if I saw a child walking into the road, either form a driver or pedestrian perspective. Terrifying! I'm sure she's had enough of a fright to keep her on the footpath.
Bugger about impending redundancy...we were in that boat last year, but it didn't happen, and G just escaped the cull the time before... ghastly.
Ah, I bet those two women are a pair of slags. Funny, it's just what I was talking about, isn't it?! Good quote. Feck them!
But not you, you're AWESOME! XXXXXXXXXXXX
I'm glad you both escaped the redundancy, what a relief! it's a sucky time though, makes everyone nervous - how bizarre I wrote this post and came over to read yours, and you were talking about it too!! and Miss Helga, you are awesome!! have a blooming good weekend x x x
DeleteWhat a bad week you've been having! I'm so sorry to hear about the Mr's work fate... fingers crossed it doesn't come to that. It's happening to too many good people. I'm really glad your daughter walked away unharmed. I can't believe you managed to keep a brave face to reassure her and a stranger until you got home; I think most parents would be hysterical. Big hugs! It's a miracle she had a lucky escape with the amount of bad drivers on our roads. I hope she's not too shaken up. As for the women who stop and stare at you everyday... they're just jealous that you look so glamorous and effortlessly stylish, and they don't! Bitches! Just smile and wave next time you go past; that should shut them up! I don't know many poems, but I LOVE If by Rudyard Kipling. It's beautiful and so inspirational. Life is definitely far too short to waste and should be lived to the fullest every day! You have such a great outlook on life! I really hope things start brightening up for you soon xx
ReplyDeleteIt's the Mum face! although I did have a 'moment' before I gathered myself, scary stuff though and she has learned a pretty valuable lesson as safely as possible! and yes to life! my Mum is the same and my Nan was, we live and we learn, and I rather like having fun wherever possible, life is too short! 'If' is a truly inspiring piece, I don't know a huge amount of poems but some just stay with us! have a restful weekend Louise, and thank you x x x
DeleteOh me oh my. Life does dump on us from time to time doesn't it? I could tell you some stories that would curl your braid! But you have exactly the right attitude. As Elizabeth Taylor famously said, "Pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick, and pull yourself together!" Sending you the most Positive of Vibes! Xxxxxooooo
ReplyDeleteThank you Connie, I love them positive vibes! I'll send some back, it's good to share! yes to drinks and lipstick, It's made me the woman I am, haha! have a fantastic weekend! x x x
DeleteWell that just plain SUX!! Hopefully Mr Foxy will be one of the so called lucky ones, shall cross my fingers for an outcome that you both wish for. Love Rudyard!!! Totally Love IF!!! Seems to be that time of crappy things happening but I am sure you will soldier on with your war paint and sparkles, you are a woman and it is what we do best. Big hugs to you all, oh two for you because you are so special. xxxxx
ReplyDeleteThanks Sue! us women are a pretty strong bunch, that's for sure! and well decorated hehe, love me some sparkle and lippy! thanks for hugs and squeezes back, Rudyard rocks and so do you! have a gorgeous weekend x x x
Deleteuffff life sometimes is just too much and all you want to do is making it stop happening shit things.. but i admire you and your attitude reapplieng lipstick and going on! and you look gorgeous in that dress! i love that circle print!
ReplyDeletekiss,mary
Thanks Mary Lou! we keep riding the waves and do our best, the shit does stop eventually!! thank goodness! have a lovely weekend x x x
DeleteYou attitue is as beautiful as your eyes.
ReplyDeleteBad things happen, but it is up to us how we deal with it.
Loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Their quiet is a silent prayer to your beauty.
ReplyDeleteThey aren't hating. They're marvelling in silence. As Melanie says, "a silent prayer". I'm making a pot of tea in your honour. For real. Big hugs darling friend. xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteBloody life! It likes to give us a good kick in the teeth sometimes doesn't it? But we have to keep our heads up and just keep trucking because what will be will be. Hope everything works out. XXX
ReplyDeleteOh! What a bad few days you've had, I'm sorry to hear about it all, but at least you are all well. And at least you are able to use poetry to help make you feel better! Those women! Jealous!!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of poetry have you ever been to one of The Reader Organisation's Reading groups? They often happen in local libraries and can be a fab way to meet people and enjoy reading, either short stories or novels and usually a poem too, I've found so many fab poets and poems from the group I go to xx
"Let's deal with it with sparkles" -- great approach to life! I
