Honestly, I really really can't draw

Following my last post about 'Heels Training', I have spent approx 10 hours in heels, most of that sitting down and today I woke up with my left knee complaining.
I read the comments regarding the heel post wincing, some of you have suffered and had injuries due to the perilous nature of them.  Today I wore flats and my knee is talking to me again.

I went to 'Art Appreciation' too.
It wasn't 'Art Appreciation'

I was prepared to look 'intelligent'

I had a notebook

I was a little excited

getting more excited

It's actually getting chilly here

So I wore my new Chazza armlets

Art Appreciation Class

'Find something that appeals to you
I want you to make it in paper'
(no sellotape yet/allowed)
'then use the tissue paper' I chose green
'use the tissue paper in your piece'

I seem to have made an Asda carrier bag
I called it the 'Abomination'

Then I had to draw it
*I have contemplated leaving for a fag at this point*
'draw the edges' etc
'That's lovely'
it's not
I know I can't draw, it's f***ing Sh*t
I am a little fed up now and politely asked if we will be learning about art and artists
no, that is art history
F**k

I had another 'opportunity' to 'create something'

The very lovely young man next to me asked me what it is called
'Conclusion'
I can't draw

Another 'Conclusion'
Flats

So I am back on my quest
Learning about Art

and Vogue-ing
Madonna

Have a wonderful weekend!
have fun!!!!
stay warm/cool
see you next week

  1. Those boots look comfy!

That art class seems hilarious/frustrating. It has been my experience that you need to choose something you actually want to draw in order to make it easier to draw. If I'm forced to draw something it is like having teeth pulled. I've been drawing for a long time and still consider almost everything I draw or paint absolute crap. I think that most artists think that of their work.

  2. Oh you have made me laugh! If it's any consolation, Owen (Seldom Seen) has just looked over my shoulder and pronounced "Conclusion" to be "quite good really". Your sketch of the "Abomination"/Asda bag has a vaguely vulva-like quality about it... Was that intentional? I think it's a feminist critique of sexuality, shopping and over-consumption, through the medium of tissue paper.
And if it's further consolation, I too would have assumed that Art Appreciation meant looking at paintings and sculpture and installations and talking about them, and the artists. Hey, what do we know? Bugger all, apparently.
And you looked so chic and be-caped and ready for art action too! The boots are cool AND comfortable; work up to the heels gradually, you only need them now and again. Let your body go with the flow...
Have a good weekend, Sandra! xxxx

    1. I'm giggling at the "vulva-like" comment cos I was looking at vintage jewellery online yesterday and it was all starting to look a bit like that... oo-er.
If you want to learn more about art and artists rather than how to make art, you could do a MOOC! http://www.mooc-list.com/ (it's a free online course). Or get some books from the library, natch.
p.s. hello, this is my first comment! I like your blog, your writing style reminds me of Eloise :)

    2. Thanks Curtise, Yes....ahem, it was meant to be vulva-esque, haha! I'm taking that description too and running with it!and thank you Owen too! and I'm glad it's not just me who was confused by 'art appreciation' x x x
Thanks Mondagogo! and Hello and welcome! it's lovely to meet you, I will pop over today! thanks for the tips on learning,it's very helpful and who is Eloise? oooh I'm intrigued! x x x

  5. Isn't Art Appreciation meant to be about appreciating great art not having a scribble of your own? Not that your lovely illustrations aren't wonderfully emotive, descriptive and evocative! Love your capelet and arm warmers - you are looking toasty warm and gorgeous. XXX

You will grow to love your course, it's just all new to you at the momment and new things always seem abit awkward at first...stick with it. Perhaps you could do an Art History course after this one.

You look lovely by the way, and did I mention, I want those boots!

  9. You are both funny and admirable for at least trying! I think your Conclusion drawing is quite good. It doesn't have to look like something, but it does have nice details, lovely proportions and a compelling title!

  17. Oh yes i took one of those courses, but it was drawing lessons, it was hard very hard -but i managed at the end of the course to draw, believe or not! practice and practice and let yourself go that what the teacher told us - Don't think about it just to do it!
But it's hard when you are not used to it -
Heels rarely for me- I live in a city, lots of walking for me so i need sensible shoes
But i found the perfect alernative - Platforms! I love platforms!
Have you ever thought about platforms?

  21. I always suffered that I can't draw what I see in my mind. I know what I want, but I cannot bring it to life. Isn't it like with anything else - you have dreams, or you know what you should change or who you want to be...but it just doesn't come to life.
    I know how you feel.
But it's great you can attend such classes! I would like too!

    Bisous!
